Cannot Delete Custom Field

I know this topic has been covered before.  Check to see if there is any sourcing or if it has any values being used in forms.  I know the field is not being sourced and I did a search to see if it has any values, and it doesn't.  I am stuck and the thing is there are like 20 fields so they are quite cumbersome to sort through all the time.  I would really like to get rid of them.  Is there any way to force delete a custom field, or on the other hand is there any way
