System Notes for Deposit?

Does anyone know if system notes are logged on deposits? 

Our situation:  A bank deposit was made 09/20/2007 in the amount of  $5,000.00.  Sometime after the deposit was made the balance changed and we need to find out what changed, who performed the change, and why.

Any ideas?
