apply report_to_Ratio to a count

Is it possible to apply 'report_to_ratio' to a count field on a search?

I have a search where I counted the number of sales orders, now I want a ration of that count (grouped by another field).

Report type = transaction search
results :
Field ----------------- Summary Type --- Formula
------------------------------------------------
Cancellation Status--- Group
Number -------------- count
Formula (percent)----- count ----------- report_to_ration(count({number})) over ()

BUT my report_to_ration formula is returning the 'ERROR: Invalid Expression'.
I have tried changing the formula type and the formula from count to sum etc but I still can't seem to get this to work
