Case Search

I have never created a case search and went to do my first one today and ran into an issue with selecting specific customers to pull in the search.  The cases list the company name but when I go to select company it doesn't give me the option to select which companies I want the search to pull.  Anyone know why or what I can do to filter specific companies?
