Posting period to filterable date

I'm trying to build a KPI using a Revenue Recognition Schedule search.  I need to filter based off Posting Period but it isn't in the correct date/time format.

What's the simplest way to convert Posting Period {srctranpostperiod}, which shows like "Jan 2013" to an acceptable date/time?
