Saved Search E-mail Logging

Hello,

I created a saved search that generates an e-mail to specific recipients each time a Trade Appraisal (opportunity) is created and when one field is updated. Is there a way to have the e-mails and any replies saved in the opportunity record under the communications subtab ? We currently use e-mail merge for this function but would like to automate via the the saved search or similar method.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!
