Problem With Commitment

Hi

I would really appreciate it if some one could put me straight as I am tearing my hair our.

We order inventory for resale pretty much on a weekly basis.  We receive sales order from customers all the time in which they specifiy a delivery date in the future (some can be months ahead).

We order off a "next week inventory required" report.  When the goods arrive and are booked in NS commits them to the oldest sales orders that are outstanding.  Which are not necessarily the ones with the nearest shipping dates.  The consequence is that I have a system telling me I do not have available inventory when I am looking at stacks of it.
