Inactive Inventory Items - Zero out items prior?

We are cleaning up some of our inventory items and I need to inactivate (delete) them from the system.  However, if there is a inventory quantity associated in the system and I inactivate them does Netsuite zero out the inventory and subtract it from my Inventory Asset Account.

Or do I need to do an inventory adjustment before I inactivate (delete) the item.
