End of Year Inventory Valuation wrong due to inactive products

I am trying to get an accurate inventory valuation figure for end of year 12/31/2006 for taxes.
But there are some items we have deactivated after 12/31/2006. So our closing 12/31/06 inventory is not showing up for those items.
Is there any way to overcome this and get an accurate closing inventory valuation.
