Misleading Inventory Reports?

Hi all -

As usual I am probably just showing my ignorance. 

We sell inventoryitems by them selves.  We also sell them when they are members of kits.  Example:

A shrubby plant - Call it Plant A

A mixed pack of plants to make a hedge containing 50 x Plant A plus some others.  Call it Hedge Pack 1

All of our inventory reports show one line reflecting the position for Plant A - but the numbers for Committed on Back Order etc ONLY show transactions which contain Plant A by name.

Further down the same report there will a line reflecting the "position" of Hedge Pack 1.  The components needed to make up Hedge Pack 1's that have been ordered by customers are not shown anywhere on any inventory  report.  We have about 40 Packs.  The most complex has 16 members.
