Audit Trail on Item Master

I am posting this after also sending in an enhancement request to NetSuite.  It seems to me that in this SOX world, there should be a decent audit trail on the item master. 
Currently we can see the create and last modified dates, but cannot see which user or process created or modified the items.  This is especially important during times when we have temps in adding new items and deactivating old itmes.
Maybe if more of us asked for these kind of audit trails it, we would get faster solutions from NetSuite.  This need goes hand-in-hand with the need to manipulate transactions and other records via XML.
