Customizing Sales Backorder Report

Is it possible to customize this report in such a way as to have the "on order" quantity reflect product that is expected to arrive at a certain time rather than computing everything on order? For example,

The report may state we have orders for 100 widgets and 1000 on order but we may actually only be getting delivery of 50 widgets this month so in fact we will have to backorder orders for 50 units. 

Is there another report that can do this better?
