Item Availability Warning

Is there a way to have a WARNING box come up when someone enters a Cash Sale or Invoice and the item they are selling is already allocated to another sales order.  Even though it says zero available, the reps are selling the products to walkins and it is causing chaos.  Thus, our online customers are having to wait for their product because it is being stolen right out from under them. 

I would like either a warning pop-up.  (Like when they are on credit hold.)  Or to just not let them sell the item at all.  Any suggestions?
