Item Search

This is probably a stupid question but on each item there is a field called Vendor Name/Code.  We populated this field with the specific vendor number associated with that product.  However, I cannot find where you can actually search on that field.  I would like to search in this field - is this possible?  Any help for this newbie would be appreciated.  Thanks.
