Inventory Adjustment - Changing Unit Cost

To date, the only way I've been able to adjust the unit cost on inventory items with Inventory Adjustment transactions is to book 2 separate transacitons on 2 separate days.  The first to remove the inventory at the old cost, and the second to bring it back into inventory at the new cost.  Does anyone have a better method?  or know of an Enhancement Request to address this?  Seems to me that you should be able to book a single Inventory Adjustment transaction to change unit cost on an inventory item.
