Cannot delete Assembly/BOM items

I have a few Assembly/Bill of Material items that I want to delete. Not only will it not let me delete those items, but it won't let me delete the member items either (they are inventory items with zero quantities on hand). I can't remove all of the members in order to delete either the Assembly/BOM or individual components because NS will not let me remove ALL members for an assembly item. This seems to be a catch-22 to me. I can't delete the individual members because they are part of an assembly, and I can't delete the assembly because
