Can Inventory Adjustment be used to Change Expiration Date for Lot Numbered Inventory Items?

We are working on an interface between NetSuite and a Warehouse Management System (WMS). The WMS sometimes needs to send up an IA simply to change the Expiration Date of a Lot on an Item.

When I try to do this using the NetSuite U/I, I have to enter a "Adjust Qty. By" of zero (0). Therefore in the Lot Number column, I have to enter "Lot123(0)". But when I try to save the IA, I get an error msg, "Serial and lot number quantities must be positive.".
