Problem With Assembly Build Transactions

We have an issue with our assembly build transactions where by the system has changed the quantities that have been used on a build.  Not by 1 or 2 but by thousands and thousands of components.

We are used to it changing values for backdated invoices and things, but quantities I cannot see why it would do this.
