Parent / Sub Items - Transacting the Parent but displaying the child...
Dear All,
Have a bit of a complicated one.
What I'm looking is that a customer orders a particular inventory item (for resale), and they refer to it by a specific (industry known) part code. We know in our inventory that this order can by fulfilled by the equivalent part code from different manufacturers.
To enable the accounting features and asset values to work we hold all stock against a parent record, and all "equivalents" of this product are sub-items thereof (with 0 stock).
So the scenario is the customer orders a CHILD, but obviously for accounting and inventory purposes I have to transact based on the PARENT record (i.e. where all the stock is).
