Inventory sales order question

We have an inventory item that we have tagged remove item when out of stock, and fulfillment set to Limit to Committed.  My order entry people are still able to place this on backorder.  I do not want to discontinue the item, yet I want to prevent the order entry folks from placing this item on a sales order.  I hope I have explained this correctly.  I am new to NetSuite.
