Inventory substitudes items

Hello,

Our company use many substitudes for the same inventory item.
Substitudes have different UPC code, different revisions and internal electronics, but the same name.

Example:
HP Laserjet printer 015 000 444 333 have substitude
HP Lasejjet printer 015 000 555 666 (country of ogigin CHINA, revision 2)
HP Lasejjet printer 015 000 666 777 (country of ogigin TAIWAN, revision 8)

When we purchase the printer, we can't purchase the revision we want exactly, we always receive it in random way from supplier.
All our Sales Orders and Purchase Orders already contain the exact printer name with UPC code, but when we actualy receive items we have a problem....

Our warehouse manager must change PO on the fly and put in the real printers he receive. But the SO remain with the old information.
