Best Practices and Process for Serialization

Hey All,

We are looking for a way to manage inventory that brings visibility and transparency to items that are serialized. Basically, an effective process that covers the life cycle / history of a particular item as its created, fulfilled, shipped, RMA (or RA), tested and re-shipped...over and over.

Right now, I have the sense we would have to build this entirely in script, and I'm wondering if anyone has some recommendations for best practices or may suggest an alternate route to scripting?
