Item # (not Display Name) on Invoice/Pick Ticket

How do we get the item # to print on forms? 

We use the manufacturer's item # as our item number and we also use the display name to allow global search to better find items.  This works great, but what prints on forms instead is the display name, not the item number.

Our customers frequently reorder the same item and our items have such similar names with multiple distinguishing features that the item # seems to be the best (easy/quick) "identifier" for reorder items.
