Demand Planning and Kits

We are looking into the new Demand Planning module from NetSuite. We currently do our demand planning manually which is a bit clunky. We want more automation in this area. Our main hang up is that we use kits. We purchase multiple items that get sold together and/or separate. NetSuite's new Demand Planning module does not work with Kits.

Does anyone have any other ways that you automate demand planning when using kits?? I've looked into assemblies but that seems to be like alot more inventory shuffling and tracking in the warehouse than we want to do. And, I'm not sure assemblies work with the new Demand Planning either, do they?
