Create Inventory Count

We are new to NetSuite and are about to embark on our first physical inventory count.  I've been testing the "Create Inventory Count" transaction functionality in NetSuite and find it to be somewhat confusing but more importantly time consuming and not efficient.  This could be my inexperience, naivete, or all of the above.  I want to make sure I'm not missing anything by using this option.  First, when we did our initial item load we were not aware we should enter information into the "Inventory Count Interval" and " Next Inventory Count Date" fields.  It appears the "Create Inventory Count"
