Replace Component Item in Assembly

Has anyone found an easy way to replace a component item that is used in an assembly item.  For example the bottle used x123 is discontinued and is used in 15 different items.  I'd like to globally replace it with bottle y234.  Any help is greatly appreciated !! I couldn't find it in mass updates or in import so I turned to the experts here
