Demand Planning -History and Future Sales?

I have found out how to use sales projections with demand planning. (looking forward based on the future sales)
I have found out how to use Linear forecast with demand planning (looking forward based on the linear regression formula). 

How can I create a supply plan based on both?

What projection method?
What settings on the Item Demand level?
What status for orders in the history?
What type of transaction for the future sales?


Does MRP have an answer to this?
