Receiving an Assebmly?

Hello Everyone. I have a unique situation that leads me to ask these questions.

We have an assembly Widget A which contains printing services=P and A blank T-Shirt=B. Widget should look like this Widget A=P+B
I have only added Member Item P to the assembly build. (Widget A=P). In the meantime production added the assembly build (Widget A=P) to a PO which is now ready to receive.
I saw the flaw before I received the order and know what I should do to remedy the situation. But, I thought I would test something. I simply received the PO that included the incomplete (Widget A=P) This increased inventory available/on hand accordingly.
