Inventory Item Weirdness

Running this question through the forum before opening an issue, just in case I'm completely missing something here.....

Since 2014.2, we've found several cases where our inventory items seem to be 'off'.  Here's an example of what I mean -

   Inventory Item: HD-SSD-SATA2-256GB-#GBPS
   Quantity on Hand:  3
   Quantity Back Ordered:  2   - this is the weirdness
   Quantity on Order:  0
   Quantity Committed:  0
   Quantity Available:  3

Looking at the transaction history, I can determine the following:

Started with 4 on hand (added via inventory adjustment).

      4
     -1     Cash Sale, fulfilled
     -1     Case Sale, fulfilled
  -------
      2
    +4     Inv. Adjustment
    +2     Inv. Adjustment
  -------
      8
     -4     Cash Sale, fulfilled
   ------
