Mass update/Mass-edit multiple inventory lot/serial numbers?

Is there any built-in functionality to mass update multiple inventory- / Lot numbers?

Cant seem to get the built-in mass update tool to update custom fields on inventory/Lot numbers...is there really no way of doing this without scripting or CSV-import?
