Proxy settings for Outlook Integration

I am having trouble getting my Outlook Integration to work consistently.
I was initially getting an error message "The Netsuite Server is currently unavailable. Please try again later".
To fix this , support said I have to add the following entry into the
'Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Lan Settings/Advanced/Exceptions'
field within the bwowser (IE6):
https://webservices.netsuite.com
This did fix the problem after logging out of Outlook and back in again. However, the settings are not being saved by the browser, so I am having to update them every session.
I noticed that the Apply button was greyed out when I changed the settings in the browser (IE6).
