Apology Letter Including Single use Coupon

I am creating a marketing template that will be used to email customers we talk with on the phone who have had a customer service issue.  I was following the directions in suiteanswers #24207 but the field type "other"  does not appear so I am not able to insert the NLCOUPONCODE .  I read somewhere here that i should be using the scriptable code on the campaign event subtab but this isn't an email campaign. 
We may only send out 20 of these single use coupons a year so what is the best way for me to do this?  It would be great if our customer service team could go to the communicate subtab on the contact record and send an email using a template we already created that has a single use coupon code in their.
