Functional limitation on # of emails in a bulk merge?

I have a client considering the use of bulk merge for an outgoing email requirement to a large user base.  Estimates of expected email volume is 1.5 million per year.  Aside from the necessity of configuring DKIM and obviously ensuring they are licensed for that many emails, has anyone ever tried this kind of volume?

Any concerns or feedback would be appreciated.
