Customer Initiated 'Cancel Order' Requests do not issue void requests

Hello:

We recently discovered that when a customer cancels a web order through the My Account page, the system does not issue a void request to release the pre-authorization on his or her credit card. Does anyone know why this is, or if there is a setting in NetSuite to change it?
