Paypal and gift certificate transactions- help!

On our webstore, we currently only accept paypal as a payment method.  This works fine until we have someone use a gift certificate.  If the total amount owed is $0 because they have applied a gift certificate, I would like an option to submit the order since no payment is owed. Currently we only have a "pay with paypal" option that attempts to direct the customer to paypal for payment, only because the transaction amount is $0.00, paypal displays an error.  This causes the order to be stuck in pending authorization mode, and we get no notification of it.. we
