How do I void a transaction

I have a customer going ape because they have cancelled an order with me and their money is still held on their PayPal account and they want me to release it so that they can spend it elsewhere. I have logged onto PayPal but I cannot see any way of voiding the transaction, the transaction status is pending..

Does anyone know how I am supposed to placate this irate customer? How long will it be before the funds are released to the customer?
