getting Custom Field values

Hello,

I am pulling an item list using wsdl 2.5, the items have numerous custom fields defined.  Some of the custom fields are of the type:

NSClient.com.netsuite.webservices.ListOrRecordRef

Is there a way to obtain the actual value for these?
