Item type when doing an ItemSearchBasic

Is there a way to specify what type of item I'm searching for when doing an ItemSearchBasic?  I'd like to be able to specify that I'm only looking for InventoryItems (not NonInventoryItemForSale or NonInventoryItemForResale).

I see a type and subType criteria in the ItemSearchBasic, but I can't find any information on them.
