Problem grabbing Internal ID after saving record...

In conjunction with an integrated barcode solution I'm developing for a client, the barcode image for each transaction within NetSuite is based on the Internal ID of the record.  Barcode image attachment to the transaction based off the Internal ID is complete, however, I'm trying to save the Internal ID into the transaction as a custom field however I can't seem to grab the ID in any of the Server side suitescript events and only return 'null' or 'undefined'.

Is there any way to obtain the internal id from a newly added record within Server Suitescript?

Would this be better attempted through client SuiteScript instead?
