Adding a Lot Numbered Assembly to a Cash Sale

I receive this error:
The number of lot numbers entered (0) is not equal to the item quantity (2)

I am trying to add a quantity of 2 to a Cash Sale... is this error a result of there being 0 in inventory of the Member Items?
