ItemSearchAdvanced Missing RecordRef name in results

It seams like if you specify the class or department columns, for example, in an ItemSearchAdvanced, only the internalId is returned, not the name.  In the case of basic searches it is.  Seams like basic is more advanced than advanced!  Anybody know what the trick is?
