Is it possible to have duplicate records with the same lot number in a lot numbered inventory item?

I am running into this odd issue where I am seeing multiple record entries with the same Lot Number for the Lot Numbered Inventory Item record type.

As an example if we have a Lot Number called DUMMY123 there are two Lot Numbered Inventory Item records. I have tried reproducing this issue by using the NetSuite UI but it will not let me create duplicates.

How is a duplicate record entry possible?
