How do I uncommit item on incorrect Sales Order?

I have several serials committed to the wrong Sales Order. This instructions to uncommit that I see referenced do not work for me, when I go to the sales order, click edit, and should be able to change committed column to uncommitted, I do not see this option, the column is shaded. Is this a permissions issue?
