New to NetSuite | Work Order Status Updates for Streamlined Production

NetSuite’s Manufacturing Work In Progress (WIP) tracks the value of materials and labor in progress, while Manufacturing Routing defines the sequence of operations such as assembly, machining, and testing. 

A significant user-identified enhancement is automating work order status updates—specifically changing work orders to “Built” upon production completion—to reduce manual intervention and improve real-time production visibility. 

User-Identified Limitations and Challenges 

Automatic Work Order Status Update (Enhancement #403027): 
With WIP enabled, users have suggested that NetSuite should automatically update work order statuses to “Built” upon completion. User discussions indicate that while custom solutions using SuiteScript or workflows exist, they require technical development and are not standard.
