NSC | How to Use Formula Fields for Calculations
Imagine you need to calculate the total commission for each sales order based on a custom rate. Rather than exporting data or using manual calculations, you can create a formula field directly in NetSuite. This allows you to perform real-time calculations using existing field values—like multiplying the order total by the commission rate—helping you automate logic and streamline reporting right within the system.
Navigate to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > [Select Field Type] > New. Choose the appropriate field type: Entity Field, Transaction Body Field, Item Field, etc.
Under Validation & Defaulting check the Formula checkbox.
You can now enter basic arithmetic operations or formulas based on your needs ex. 5*5 or {fieldid}*{fieldid2}
