NSC | When is it Best to Use Asynchronous Web Service Operations?

edited Aug 5, 2025 1:54PM in SuiteCloud / Customization

Asynchronous web service operations are preferred when dealing with potential performance bottlenecks. Slow or unstable connections can hinder synchronous operations, leading to timeouts or errors. By using asynchronous methods, you ensure that network issues do not impact the overall system performance.

In NetSuite’s SOAP Web Services, the following asynchronous equivalents are available for these list operations:

You can use the checkAsyncStatus and getAsyncResult operations to track asynchronous requests.

Advantages of Asynchronous Web Services Operations:

  • Long-Running Tasks: Asynchronous processing is crucial for tasks that take an extended time to complete. Synchronous operations have a timeout limit of 15 minutes, and exceeding this limit results in failures. Asynchronous operations allow these long-running jobs to execute fully without timing out.

Howdy, Stranger!
