NSC | Journal Entry Import Tip You Should Know
Scenario:
When attempting to import Journal Entries using a CSV file, the user may encounter the following error message:
"A record with this ID already exists. You must enter a unique ID in order to create or update this record."
This error typically occurs when the system detects that an External ID (used to uniquely identify records during import) has already been assigned to another existing Journal Entry in NetSuite. Since External IDs must be unique, using the same ID more than once will cause the import to fail.
The error is triggered when the CSV file contains an External ID that already exists in the system—either from a previous import or manually created entry. NetSuite requires that all External IDs be unique to prevent data duplication or overwriting of existing records.
