New To NetSuite | Custom Field Types: Document vs. Image
In NetSuite, Document and Image fields are both used to upload files, but they serve distinct purposes. A Document field is designed to store general files like PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and text files. These are typically used for contracts, manuals, specifications, or any file that doesn't need to be visually displayed on the record.
On the other hand, an Image field is specifically meant for graphic files like JPG, PNG, or GIF images. It not only stores the image but also renders a visual preview directly on the record or form, making it ideal for product photos, employee profile pictures, or branded assets.
