NSC | Restricting Employees to Specific Locations in NetSuite While Allowing Transfer Requests
Scenario:
The user wanted to restrict showroom inventory staff so they could only create or update transactions using designated showroom locations and prevent them from selecting the Main Warehouse location. However, users still needed the ability to reference the Main Warehouse when creating Transfer Order Requests for inventory transfers to showroom locations.
Solution:
One effective approach is to use a combination of custom transaction forms and workflows to control location access and transaction behavior.
Recommended setup:
- Create custom transaction forms for the affected transaction types, such as:
- Item Receipts
- Item Fulfillments
- Transfer Orders
- Restrict the custom forms to the appropriate user roles or employees.
