NSC | Understanding the “Charge for Shipping” Checkbox in UPS Integration

Scenario:
The user wanted to understand how the “Charge for Shipping” checkbox behaves in the NetSuite UPS integration setup. The requirement was to view the calculated UPS shipping cost internally for reference and pricing analysis, while preventing the calculated UPS charge from being directly passed on to customers because a separate universal shipping charge item was already being used.

Solution:
If the “Charge for Shipping” checkbox is unchecked, NetSuite will not calculate shipping charges through the UPS integration.

Behavior summary:

  • Charge for Shipping = Checked
    • UPS shipping costs are calculated
    • Calculated shipping charges are automatically applied to the customer transaction
  • Charge for Shipping = Unchecked
